1 –

  • It is celebrated every year on 8 June to inculcate awareness in the people and support the people that are suffering from serious disease and the urgent need for research.
  • Several events are organized around the world to educate about brain tumour.

  • World Ocean Day is celebrated by UNITED NATION.
  • The purpose of the day is to inform the public of the impact of Human Action on the Ocean and unite the world’s population on a project for the sustainable management of the world ocean.
  • The Theme of this year is GENDER AND THE OCEAN.

1- Government launched Swach Survekshan 2020 League.

  • Union Housing And urban Affairs Minister Hardeep  Singh Puri will launch “SAWACH SURVEKSHAN LEAGUE” 2020 on 6 June under Swach Bharat Mission (Urban).
  • It would be quarterly cleanliness assessment of towns and cities in india and will be intergrated with Swach Survekshan 2020.
2-India to buy 100 more SPICE bombs, signed Rs 300 crore deal with Israel.

  • The Indian Air Force signed a deal with Israel to buy more than 100 SPICE  2000 BOMBS, worth around Rs 300 crore.
  • SPICE bombs were used by the Indian Air Force (IAF) to attack the Madrasa of Jaish-e-Mohammed in Balakot, Pakistan, on February 26, in response to the terrorist attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama which resulted in the martyrdom of 40 CRPF personnel.
3 - PM Modi reconstituted NITI Aayog

  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the reconstitution of the National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog.
  • Rajiv Kumar has been retained as the Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog.
  • Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah has been appointed as one of the ex-officio members of the NITI Aayog, along with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, and Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Narendra Singh Tomar.
  • VK Saraswat, Ramesh Chand and VK Paul will continue as members of the NITI Aayog.
  • Economist Bibek Debroy has been dropped from the team.

4 - India Foreign Minister Jaishankar in Bhutan on his 1st bilateral visit.

  • External Affairs Minister of India, S Jaishankar reached Bhutan on June 7 on a two-day visit.
  • This is his first overseas trip after assuming charge of the Foreign ministry.


1 – Estonia, Niger, St Vincent and The Grenadine, Tunisia, Vietnam elected UNSC Non Permanent Members.

  • Estonia, Niger, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Tunisia and Vietnam were Friday elected as non-permanent members of the UN Security Council for a two year term beginning January 1, 2020.
2 - SriLankan Airlines: World’s Most Punctual Airline.

  • Sri Lankan Airlines, the National Carrier of island nation has been named the ‘World’s Most Punctual Airline’ for second consecutive time.
  • SriLankan Airlines, the flag carrier of Sri Lanka, has been named ‘World’s Most Punctual Airline’ for second consecutive time in less than 12 months.
3 - St Petersburg International Economic Forum 2019.

  • Russia’s annual Saint Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) is being held from 6-8 June 2019. It is an annual international forum that discusses key economic issues facing Russia, emerging markets and world at large stage.
  • The Saint Petersburg is Russia’s former imperial capital.
  • Theme for SPIEF 2019: Creating a Sustainable Development Agenda

                                     APPOINTMENTS & RESIGNS

1 - Prayuth Chan-ocha elected as the Prime Minister of Thailand.

  • Thailand Parliament elected Prayuth Chan-ocha of Palang Pracharat Party as Prime Minister for a second term. He defeated Thanathorn Juangroongruangkit, leader of Future Forward party by a margin of 500 to 244 votes.
2 - Former Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami has been appointed as BCCI’s electoral officer for AGM.

  • N Gopalaswami, former Chief Election Commissioner has been appointed as an electoral officer to supervise the BCCI’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) election that is to be held on October 22.

1 - China to host 2023 Asian Cup confirmed by Asian Football Confederation (AFC)

  • Asian Football Confederation (AFC), confirmed that China will host the 2023 Asia Cup. This will be the second time China is hosting the quadrennial continental tournament, after the 2004 edition.
  • Earlier Korea was competing with China for hosting rights but the former took it back to concentrate on securing the hosting rights for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
