1 – Canada to ban single use plastic as early as 2021.
  • Prime Minister Justin Trudeau of Canada on Monday announced ban on “Harmful” Single use plastic – Joining growing Global Movement.
  • This initiative is modeled on similar legislation passed last year by European Union and Other Nations.
  • Canada will also establish “targets” for Companies that manufacture or sell plastic to be responsible for their plastic waste.

2 -  Bangladesh elected as U.N.W.T.O Vice President.
  • Bangladesh has been elected VICE PRESIDENT OF UNITED NATION WORLD TOURISM ORGANIZATION as well as member of the Organization’s credential committee.
  • With this victory, Bangladesh Will performed the responsibility of Vice president in the 23rd session of the UNWTO to be held in 2019.
  • Bangladesh defeated Iran in this contest and won unanimously.

3 - African Union suspend Sudan, Demand of Civil Administration.
  • The African Union (AU) Peace and Security Council has announced that has announced that it had suspended Sudan’s participation in all AU activities until the productive establishment of Civilian Government in the Country.
  • The decision was taken at Peace and Security Council meeting in Ethiopia’s Addis Abba.
  • The suspension comes after Sudan’s Military launched a Brutal attack on protesters in the capital, Khartoum.
  • The Military leadership had taken control over the country after the ouster of sudan president Omar-al-Bashir in April 2019 after months of mass protest.
     


4 -  National Strategy For Wellbeing 2031 Adopted By The Cabinet of UAE.
  • The cabinet of UAE adopted a 12 year strategy ‘National Strategy For Wellbeing 2031’ during its meeting at Royal Palace in Abu Dhabi.
  • It was Chaired by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid  the Prime minister and ruler of Dubai.

 1 - Annual festival of Kheer Bhawani Mela celebrated in J&K.
  • On June 10, 2019, Annual festival of Kheer Bhawani Mela on Zeasht Ashtami was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K). Hundreds of Kashmiri Pandit devotees assembled and prayed at the famous Ragnya Devi temple in Ganderbal district in J&K. It is one of the biggest religious functions of the Kashmiri Pandits.

  2 - India & Portugal to set up National Maritime Heritage Museum in Lothal.
  • Government of India announced that it will join hands with Portugal to set up maritime museum near ancient Harappans civilization at Lothal in Gujarat. It will be a similar model of the museum which is at Lisbon, Portugal administered by the Portuguese Navy.

3 - ASI declared Chaukhandi Stupa as Monument of National Importance.
  • Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has declared Chaukhandi Stupa as a “Monument of national importance”. The ancient Buddhist site situated in Sarnath, Uttar Pradesh.

4 - MHA allows all states to setup Foreigners Tribunals.
  • The Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Government of India empowered district magistrates in all States and Union Territories to set up Foreigners Tribunals (FTs). In this regard, it has amended the Foreigners Tribunals Order, 1964 by the Foreigners Tribunal Order, 2019. It is to decide whether a person staying illegally in India is a foreigner or not. The power to constitute Foreigners tribunal was only with the central government earlier.

5 - Election Commission grants national party status to NPP.
  • The Election Commission of India granted the National party status to National People’s Party(NPP) led by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma. It becomes the first Party from North East region to get this tag
  • With this tag, it becomes the eighth national party in the country among All India Trinamool Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), BSP, CPI, Communist Party of India (Marxist), Indian National Congress (INC) and NCP parties.
  • It has fulfilled eligibility criteria as laid down in paragraph 6B (iii) (the party is recognized as State party in at least four States) to become a national party.
  • It is getting status of the state party in four states such as Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya and Nagaland.
  • Eligibility criteria: As per the Election Symbols (Reservation and Allotment) Order, 1968, a political party should be recognized as a national party if candidates of the party secure at least 6 percent of votes which is polled in four or more states in Lok Sabha election or assembly elections.

1 - India’s swashbuckling all-rounder Yuvraj Singh, announced retirement from all forms of cricket.
  • Indian cricket team all-rounder, Yuvraj Singh has announced retirement from all forms of cricket. He played 40 test matches, 304 ODI’s and 58 T20I’s. He hails from Chandigarh. He is an awardee of 2012 Arjuna Award and 2014 Padma Shri Award.
  • He started his cricket career in the year 1995–96 and played Under-16.
  • In the year 2000, India won Under-19 Cricket World Cup and Yuvraj won Player of the Tournament award.
  • His Autobiography titled “The Test of My Life” was published.

2 - Portugal became the first European nation to host and win a final of a major competition since France at the 1998 World Cup.
  • Hosts Portugal claimed their second trophy in three years by beating the Netherlands to win the inaugural Nations League.

1 - Veteran Journalist E Gopinath died at 88 in Chennai.
  • E Gopinath, the eldest journalist of Tamil Nadu passed away at 88 in Chennai. He was also a Chief of news agency ‘ANI’, Tamil nadu.
