1 - Fifth meeting of the Governing Council of NITI Aayog held in New Delhi.
  • On June 15, 2019, The fifth meeting of the Governing Council of The National Institution for Transforming India (NITI) Aayog was held under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhawan Cultural Centre, New Delhi.
  • This was the first governing council meeting under the new Modi government. The guiding principle of Union Government is “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas and Sabka Vishwaas”.
  • It was attended by the Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, 26 Chief Ministers and the Lieutenant Governor of Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Union Ministers and special invitees.
  • Prime Minister said the goal to make India a five trillion dollar economy by 2024 can be achieved though it is challenging. He urged the states to increase their economy by 2 to 2.5 times, which in turn would increase the common man’s purchasing power. He called upon the Chief Ministers to study their State’s export potential and work on export promotion
  •  Focus should be given to fisheries, animal husbandry, horticulture, fruits and vegetables in order to fulfill the commitment to double incomes of farmers by 2022.

2 - Death toll rises to 66 in Muzaffarpur, Bihar due to Encephalitis.
  • Muzaffarpur district of Bihar reported death of 69 children due to Acute Encephalitis Syndrome (AES). Till now over 130 have been hospitalised in the district.
  • Encephalitis:-Encephalitis is an inflammation or swelling and irritation of the brain. In most cases it is also called acute viral encephalitis or aseptic encephalitis.
    Symptoms: The viral disease causes mild flu-like symptoms such as a high fever, personality changes, convulsions (seizures), severe headache, nausea and vomiting, stiff neck, confusion, problems with speech or hearing, hallucinations, memory loss, drowsiness.
3 - Assam govt to set up Skill University at Darrang district. 
  •  Assam government will set up a Skill University at the cost of 850 crore rupees at Darrang district.
  • ·This will be perhaps the first skill university of the country with a capacity of 10 thousand seats. The International Yoga Day will be observed at 459 centres of the Skill Development Mission.
4 - ISRO opens its laboratories for Indian school students.
  • ·The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) has, for the first time, opened its laboratories for Indian school students to undergo two-week training from this year.
  •  The training module has been devised as part of its new Young Scientists Programme, or Yuva Vigyanik Karyakram, YUVIKA.

  • Union Power Minister participated in G20 Ministerial Meeting on Energy Transitions and Global Environment for Sustainable Growth in Karuizawa, Nagano Prefecture, Japan on 15-16 June, 2019
  • Union Power Minister of India: Raj Kumar Singh.
2 - Venezuela to roll out three new banknotes due to Hyperinflation. 
  • The Venezuelan government announced that it will issue new banknotes due to racketing hyperinflation which eroded the currency’s value. The central bank of Venezuela will release new Banknotes of 10,000, 20,000 and 50,000 bolivar denominations.

1 - Suman Rao crowned as Miss India 2019.
  • A 20-year-old model, Suman Rao, a resident of Rajsamand, Rajasthan was crowned Miss India 2019. The ceremony was held at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Indoor Stadium, Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was crowned by Miss India 2018 Anukreethy Vas from Tamil Nadu.

1- FIH Series Finals: India beat South Africa 5-1 in title clash.
  •  In the FIH Men's Series Finals, India defeated South Africa by 5 goals to one in a summit clash at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar.
2 - Joshna Chinappa wins record 17th National Title in Squash.
  •  Joshna Chinappa made a record for the most number of national titles after beating her Tamil Nadu state-mate Sunayna Kuruvilla.
